Pune · Education & coaching
Every prospectus promises the same thing. Parents have noticed.
Pune has more choice in higher education than almost any Indian city, and more institutes competing for the same students. When every campus claims excellent placements and experienced faculty, the institutes that win are the ones that can prove something specific.
Education & coaching
Pune education, in numbers.
Students still come to Pune from across India. But seats have grown faster than trust, and regulators are now watching what institutes claim.
In November 2024 the Central Consumer Protection Authority issued guidelines for coaching advertising. Institutes can no longer promise guaranteed selection or ranks, and must disclose a topper’s rank, the course they took and whether it was paid when using them in ads. For marketing teams, the easy claims are gone. The specific, provable ones are what’s left.
What’s going wrong in education marketing, and how we’d fix it.
Admissions teams are working hard. Most of the problems come from saying what everyone else says, to the wrong person, at the last minute.
01
Everyone sounds the same.
“Excellent placements. Industry-ready curriculum. Experienced faculty.” Swap the logo and most prospectuses in Pune would still make sense.
How we’d fix it · Branding
Find the one thing your institute genuinely does better, for a specific student, and prove it: named outcomes, real projects, visible faculty. Specific beats superlative.
02
Two audiences, one message.
The student chooses on Instagram, YouTube and friends’ opinions. The parent chooses on outcomes, fees, safety and reputation. Most institutes talk to neither properly.
How we’d fix it · Growth
Separate content paths for students and parents, planned around the admission calendar rather than squeezed into the last six weeks.
03
Admission season becomes a panic spend.
Budgets go on bought leads from listing portals and last-minute ads. Counsellors spend their days calling people who enquired at five other institutes the same afternoon.
How we’d fix it · Growth
Build year-round demand you own, through search, content and alumni stories, so admissions season harvests interest instead of buying it.
04
The website was built for the accreditation committee.
Circulars, mandatory disclosures and PDFs sit where fees, eligibility and outcomes should be. Applicants leave to find answers on a portal.
How we’d fix it · Designing
Restructure the site around the applicant’s questions, in the order they ask them, while keeping every mandatory disclosure where regulators expect it.
05
Nobody knows which channel produced an enrolment.
Enquiries are tracked. Admissions sometimes are. The link between the two, and the fee paid, almost never is.
How we’d fix it · Growth
Connect enquiry sources to your admissions CRM so you can see cost per enrolled student by channel, not cost per lead.
Why Pune is a harder market than it looks.
Pune’s reputation as an education city works for every institute here, which means it differentiates none of them. A student from Nagpur or Patna choosing Pune is still choosing between dozens of options that look the same online.
Maharashtra’s 2013 guidelines for private universities opened the door to new institutions, and the city now has 15 private universities alongside long-established colleges. Heritage matters less to an 18-year-old than proof of what happens after graduation.
What families actually compare
- Named outcomes: where last year’s students went
- Total cost, including hostel and living
- Safety and student life, in their own words
- Faculty they can see, not a list of degrees
- Honest answers about eligibility and cut-offs
Claims we won’t write for you.
“100% placement”
Unless you can show the data behind it. Families have heard it too often, and regulators are now asking for proof.
Topper photos without full disclosure
The CCPA guidelines require the rank, the course and whether it was paid. We build campaigns that meet that from the start.
“No. 1 institute” with no ranking behind it
A superlative you can’t source is a liability, not a headline.
Fake urgency
“Last 3 seats” in March erodes trust you’ll need in June.

What admissions teams ask us.
Can we still advertise our toppers?
Yes, with the disclosures the 2024 CCPA guidelines ask for: the student’s rank, the course they took and whether it was paid. We build those into the creative from the start. For anything borderline, check with your legal adviser.
Our admissions season is three months away. Is that enough time?
It’s enough to fix the website’s biggest gaps and tracking. Positioning and content pay off most in the following cycle, so we’d plan both at once.
Do you work with schools as well?
Our focus is higher education and coaching, where the buyer is the student as much as the parent. For schools, we’re happy to talk and tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit.
We’re a coaching institute, not a university. Is this relevant?
Very. Coaching is where the CCPA guidelines bite hardest, and where specific, honest proof stands out most.
How do you measure success?
Enrolled students by channel and cost per enrolment, not leads. We agree the metric at kickoff.
